Delhi High Court Hybrid Hearings

Yesterday, The Delhi High Court made a big step forward towards the Hybrid Era in Legal Proceedings.

Delhi High Court took steps to implement a new hybrid system for Hearings by passing a new modified order for physical hearings.

According to the new order, now lawyers can opt for a virtual hearing for a matter which is listed for a physical hearing if they wish for it, provided they have submitted an advance notice for the same

The notification by the Delhi High Court through an office order issued under the authority of Chief Justice DN Patel directs that "Matters shall be taken up through physical mode as per the Roster of Sitting of the Hon'ble Judges of this Court. However, request for taking up any such matter through virtual mode shall be entertained by the Court wherever advance intimation is provided."

The latest order also permits a party to join proceedings via virtual mode while the other party is physically present in the court.

The new order clarifies and modifies the previous circular of 14th January 2021 concerning the resumption of physical hearings. Now the system of hybrid hearing which allows both physical and virtual hearings shall be adopted.
